RELIGIOUS PLACES IN PUNJAB TEMPLES AND CHURCHES

The main Temples in Punjab are as under
Devi Talab Mandir in Jallandhar
Devi Talab Mandir of the Jallandhar is appox 200 years old and is situated about at 1 km distance from the railway station. In the temple very recently a model of Amarnath Yatra is Built.
Beside the temple there is an old mandir of Goddess kali and an old sacred Talab. Every year in the month of December Hariballabh sangeet samellan is held here in the premises since last 125 years.


Kali Devi Temple Patiala
Kali devi mandir located on the mall road of Patiala was constructed by the royal family of Patiala and is a fine piece of architecture. The walls of the Mandir are having fine paintings and sceneries. These are so beautiful that this temple is added in the national monuments.

 Ram Tirath Temple Amritsar

A very sacred temple which dates back to Ramayana is situated near Amritsar, 11 kms away from it in the west. It is believed that Devi Sita gave birth to Her sons Lava and Kusha here in a hut situated nearby. Near it is Maharishi Valmiki’s Hermitage.

Shiv Mandir Jallandhar
 
One of the most ancient temples of the region Shiv Mandir is situated in the Gur Mandi of Jallandhar. The temple was constructed by the ruler of the lodhi Dynasty and near to the mandir is Mosque of Imam Nasr. The temple has a very good Mixture of Hindu and Muslim architecture. People come here every day but on Shivratri people throng here.

The Christ King Church

Although there are not very old churches but the churches built here in Punjab especially The Christ King Church in Ludhiana is the best example of fine architecture. This church was inaugurated by cardinal Telesphore P Toppo, president of the Catholic Bishop conference of India on August 29th 2004.
Other Churches are  Holy Cross Church Ludhiana and St. Marry Cathedral Church Jalandhar Cantt.
